Introduction:
In its 6th year the 2019 event will be held at Boscombe beach and is a real must for anyone looking for a slightly more challenging open water swim. This is a series of 3 Long Swim events over the summer season. The Salty Sea Dog Swims will take place near the Urban Reef – a funky and informal bar, café, deli and restaurant, serving fresh, seasonal and local food and drink. 

Schedule:

• 09:30 - Long Swim registration opens 
• 10:20 - Long Swim briefings - Held on the start line
• 10:30 - 2.5k and 3.8km swim starts

Weather:
Although Boscombe is well sheltered they may be a possibility of some surf conditions. Advice from the lifeguard team will be sought and if necessary the swim will be postponed. Any decision will be made with the swimmers best interest in mind. Any change of plan will be communicated via this web page and via email to all entered participants.

This will give you a good overview of the event.  All entrants will be emailed a reminder to read the event information. It is a condition of entry to this event that you participate according to the instructions in the event information. We do not post out information.

Please ensure the participant information form is completed before your arrival at the event.

Spectators:
Spectators can get a great view of the action either from the beach or from up on the cliff top. The Urban Reef Beach cafe has an excellent all weather viewing area of the beach and swim course.  Perfect for spectators and armchair sports enthusiasts!

Course:
Both Long Swims will be beach starts between the start flags. The course will be marked by large inflatable marker buoys and a large course map will clearly indicate each course. The course layout is subject to change due to weather conditions. The course takes swimmers approx 400 meters from the shoreline and gives a great view of the coast.    

Event rules:

• As part of the entry system to the event all participants agree to the following:    
• All swimmers will read and adhere to the 'Participant Event Information Pack' (available to download from this event web page approx 2 weeks pre-event date)  
• Wetsuits are mandatory for all swimmers unless special permission has been granted by the organisers pre-event for individuals to swim non-wetsuit. 
• All swimmers must wear the issued swim hats during the course of the swim event.  

Cut off times:  

• 2.5km - 1hr 30mins  
• 3.8km - 1hr 50mins  

Swimmers over these times will be collected from the water and returned to shore.  

Refunds / transfers:
Please ensure you read and agree to the Votwo events terms and conditions when you enter the event. In brief, the refund policy is as follows:  

Any event entry cancellation received by email to events@votwo.co.uk more than 14 days prior to the event date will receive a 50% refund or transfer of entry fee towards another votwo event (£5 transfer fee applies).   

Only emailed cancellations are acceptable. Cancellations made in the last 14 days before the event start date will not be eligible for any refund or transfer.
